Embrace, 20--

Two abstract aluminum figures are caught in a tender moment in Coquitlam artist Serge Mozhnevsky's sculpture, Embrace. "The piece represents loving unity," says Mozhnevsky. "I believe that simple lines evoked by natural forms provide the greatest freedom for our emotions and imagination." His work typically exudes physicality and intense emotion.

Mozhnevsky was born in Russia and grew up in the Ukraine; He graduated from the Uzhgorod Professional College with a Diploma with Honours in Wood Carving.

He immigrated to Canada in 2000. Though he sculpts in wood, bronze, and occasionally stone, he now works primarily in aluminum. An internationally acclaimed artist, his works are part of private collections in Europe and North America.
